Before School Regulations

All students who walk to school should walk on the sidewalks.  If it is necessary to cross the street, students should follow the directions of the crossing guard.
Children that receive breakfast in school should arrive at 8:05 am and report to the café.  All other students should arrive between 8:05 and 8:30.  Kindergarten, grades 1, 2, 3 and 4 wait outside classrooms while sitting in the halls (to be monitored by teachers and paraprofessionals).  Grade 5 will wait in the gymnasium.  ALL CHILDREN MUST ENTER THE SCHOOL THROUGH THE SIDE DOOR.  THE FRONT DOOR IS ONLY FOR VISITORS AND PARENTS.
*PARENTS: OUR STUDENTS SAFETY IS OUR FIRST CONCERN; ALL CHILDREN MUST BE DROPPED OFF AT THE CROSSWALK.  NO CHILD IS TO BE LET OUT OF THE CAR TO CROSS THE STREET ALONE.  WE HAVE A CROSSING GUARD   PLEASE PARK ON NORRIS STREET AND ESCORT YOUR CHILD TO THE CROSS WALK.

Children are not to be dropped off at the school until 8:05.  The school is not responsible for the children until 8:05, as there is no staff assigned to supervise the student until such time.
All children arriving at school after 8:35 must report to the office ESCORTED BY A PARENT OR GAURDIAN.
The child must be signed in by a parent and obtain a late pass.   18 absences (excused or not) will result in retention.

AFTER SCHOOL REGULATIONS

Walkers are dismissed via the front door of the building.  Parents must get out of the car and wait at the front of the school for the students.  No child will be released to a car; they will only be released to an adult.  Children are released from the line.  If an adult is not there to pick up your child will be sent to the back of the line and you must wait for your child to come back to the front.  No parent will be allowed in the building at that point for the safety of the children.

TRANSPORTATION, BUS ROUTES, AND SCHEDULES

In late August, the bus schedule will appear in the Waterbury Republican-American.  Please encourage your child to use the bus system.  This teaches your child independence and cuts down on the amount of traffic at the school.  Safety rules should also be discussed with your child to insure a safe ride to and from school and parents and students are required to sign contracts to ride the bus.

Any questions regarding the bus routes, schedules, pick-up points, times, or bus drivers, please contact the bussing coordinator, Jeff Hunter at 574-8037/or Bus Company at 597-1412.

*Please keep in mind that riding on the school bus is a privilege.  Any student who does not follow the safety rules of the bus will not be permitted to ride the bus to or from school and their transportation will be the responsibility of the parents.   If the child is involved in an incident on the bus, a notice will be sent home to be signed and returned.  Repeated offenses will result in a disciplinary action.
