Computing Challenge

Lt. Governor’s COVID-19 Computing Challenging On Monday, May 11, Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz formally announced the Lt. Governor’s COVID-19 Computing Challenge, which encourages 3rd through 12th grade students to design socially-conscious apps, websites and/or computer programs that:  Defeat the spread of the disease  Aid local or global communities, or  Encourage or inform others COVID-19 is presenting challenges unlike we have ever seen. We have all had to find meaningful ways to engage and connect from a distance. We know some students face barriers during this time of learning due to lack of access. This challenge will allow students to creatively address the many challenges arising due to the pandemic by:  Applying critical thinking and problem solving skills  Working collaboratively  Gaining a heightened understanding of the uses of computer technology For more information and to submit ideas, please go to https://www.skills21.org/ltgovcovid19challenge. CSDE and DSS Partner to Provide Food to Children During Pandemic Through EBT Program

The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) continues to seek ways in which students facing food insecurity can access proper nutrition during the COVID-19 school closure. The CSDE has partnered with the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) to implement the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer Program (P-EBT). The P-EBT program complements other efforts to provide food to children during this difficult time and is not intended to replace any existing benefits or meal services, such as school meal distribution.

COVID-19 Closure- Meal Service and Distance Learning

Breakfast and lunch can be picked up at any one of the 25 schools between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Students and parents may pick up meals from the school site most convenient to their home even if their child is not enrolled in that school. Click here for a full list of the locations.

     *Please note: For students who do not have access to the online learning plan, supplemental learning materials for Pre-K through 12th grade are also available at each location.
