Principal's Message

A Message from the Principal, Mrs. Razza

Welcome back to Regan School!  We have many exciting events and activities planned for this year.   We will continue with school initiatives this year for reading, math and attendance.  It is important that you encourage your child to read each day and come to school on time and ready to learn!  Daily attendance for your child is extremely important.  Each day, your child will learn new skills that build onto each other.

Regan School will be using several different computer programs to assist students with instruction and based off of each child’s level.  First, we have Math IReady, a math computer program that will be used again this year for students in grades 2, 3, 4 and 5.  Second, Moby Max is another computer program and it was purchased for all students at Regan School. Moby Max is a program that covers all subject areas.  Lexia is the third program given to some students depending on their reading level.  Finally, Reading A-Z and Science A-Z is another online tool for reading assigned to some students.  More information will be sent home in the next few weeks so that you can have your child log into the computer program(s) from home.  If you do not have a computer at home, the Silas Bronson Library will be a great place to visit so your child can use the computer there.

As a reminder, please continue to follow the procedure below for dismissal pickup to ensure the safety of all students.  Cars should enter through the playground pathway and form one line closest to the school building.  If needed, a second line will be formed.  Once the first line has passed, we will move onto the second row.  Please stay in your car while an adult walks your child to your car.  Again, this is to ensure the safety of children in an area with moving cars.

We will continue to implement our school wide behavioral system for PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support). For the month of September, we will focus on being RESPECTFUL. Students have opportunities to earn tickets thru out the day for doing an exceptional job of following the expectations.  Each month, the school store will open so students can redeem their tickets for different items. Please review our school wide expectations and encourage your child(ren) to be respectful every day.

I want to encourage all parents and guardians to join us at the different family functions that will be held this year.  I want to personally thank our PTO and School Governance Council (SGC).  Last year, they made a lot of wonderful things happen for our students and I know they are excited again for another year of supporting academic growth for all students thru the different activities they sponsor and support.  They have already begun to plan events and ideas for this school year.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!  We are looking for additional parent members to join our SGC.  See the attached nomination form.  If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Poulter.

The Gathering Parade is scheduled for Saturday, September 23rd at 11am at Library Park in Waterbury.  We need students and families to help us carry our Regan banner.  More information will be sent home soon.

Finally, if you have any questions or concerns during the year, please feel free to call the school or write a note to schedule an appointment with your child's teacher.  We are here to work with you and ensure your child(ren) succeeds.

I am looking forward to a great school year!
