Happy New Year! I wish all a wonderful year in 2021! I hope you all enjoyed the winter holidays and were able to relax during the break from school. I am hopeful that this year will be a better year for all of us.
Teachers have been busy planning lessons for the children. We have more family events planned for the remainder of this school year. There are many more opportunities for you to join us to learn about the different things your child is learning. We will continue to offer parent workshops and family nights too.
During the month of January, your child will be tested in reading and math to determine how much growth your child has made since September. Reading reports for parents will be sent home in early February with different activities that can be done at home to reinforce and strengthen skills. If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to set an appointment to meet with your child’s teacher. They are always glad to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress.
As a reminder, google meets begin each morning at 8:35am promptly. If you ever have a question about the schedule or any assignments, please contact your child's teacher. Each afternoon or evening during the asynchronous learning time, your child should complete all assignments given by the teachers. This includes 20 minutes of each of these programs: Amplify Reading, Math i-Ready, Fundations for K-4 and the assignments from the special's teachers. If you need passwords for any programs, please contact your child’s teacher. Please encourage your child to read each night as well. We are here to work together so please let us know how we can help.
The 21st Century After-School Virtual Program is for students in grades 2 - 5. If you have not applied and are interested in the program, please apply by completing the Google Form that was recently posted on Parent Square. Feel free to call the school at 203-574-8187 if you have any questions.
As a reminder, attendance is extremely importance. We expect our students to attend school each day so that they can learn as much as they can from their teachers. Students learn best when they are in school each day building on from the lesson from the prior day. Once again, Happy New Year! Best wishes to all for a wonderful, happy and healthy new year in 2021!
