CSDE and DSS Partner to Provide Food to Children During Pandemic Through EBT Program

The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) continues to seek ways in which students facing food insecurity can access proper nutrition during the COVID-19 school closure. The CSDE has partnered with the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) to implement the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer Program (P-EBT). The P-EBT program complements other efforts to provide food to children during this difficult time and is not intended to replace any existing benefits or meal services, such as school meal distribution.

A Message Regarding the Grading Policy

Good morning parents and guardians,

This is Mr. Albini, Principal of Waterbury Arts Magnet School.  I hope that you and your families are staying safe. I wanted to update you regarding the grading policy changes as a result of the closure of schools beginning on March 13th due to COVID-19.

As you know, 10 days of the 3rd quarter were lost, accounting for approximately 23% of the quarter.  As a result, teachers will be grading students with either a pass or incomplete for the third quarter.

Please be aware that this will not impact final grades and overall GPA. Students overall grades and GPA will be calculated based on first and second quarter grades, including the midterm.  This will be updated in PowerSchool as soon as possible.  As a result, PowerSchool will be temporarily unavailable as we transition to accommodate these changes.

As more information comes from the state regarding school closures, we will keep you updated in regards to the fourth quarter.

Thank you for your patience and please be safe.
