Deputy Superintendent Robert Henry helped Waterbury Public Schools students select warm winter coats as part of Operation Warm. The Waterbury Fire Department, through the national organization Operation Warm, distributed 300 brand-new winter coats to students at Bucks Hill, Walsh and Hopeville, as well as to students in several other schools. This is the fifth year that members of the Waterbury Fire Department have partnered with Operation Warm, a non-profit organization that has provided coats to over two millions children. The local fire department helps raise funds, and firefighters volunteer to help distribute the coats. A representative group of students from Walsh and from Hopeville were bused to Bucks Hill for a special assembly December 21st that included Mayor Neil M. O’Leary and representatives from Cigna, MacDermid, Brass Axe Capital, and Durham School Services.
