The Board of Education recognizes the right of parents to educate their children at home. Parents must follow state regulations regarding homeschool instruction. Parents must file with the Superintendent of Schools a Notice of Intent form, which provides basic information about the program to be provided for their child. A Notice of Intent must be filed annually. The Board believes that formal education in public schools is highly beneficial both for the child and for society. Children educated at home are considered to be non-public school students and are not part of the system’s educational responsibility and are not part of the school system.
