Waterbury Public Schools, in compliance with the requirements of the State of Connecticut Public Act 09-81, An Act Concerning Green Cleaning Products in Schools, is providing this information on the cleaning products used in our facilities. We have initiated a Green Cleaning Program which will be on-going. The intent of the Green Cleaning Program is to reduce the exposure to the buildings’ occupants from potentially hazardous cleaning products, equipment or procedures which could adversely affect human health and the environment, indoors and outdoors.
|
The components of our Green Cleaning Program as required by P.A. 09-81 include:
|
• A description and names of environmentally preferable cleaning products being used in the schools.
• The application and location of where cleaning products are used.
• The schedule or frequency of when these cleaning products are applied
• We will work towards eliminating and monitoring cleaning products being brought in from the outside by unauthorized sources.
•The name of the designee who may be contacted for further information will be provided.

Waterbury Public Schools are utilizing Enviro-Solutions Chemical Dilution Management System for dispensing a number of cleaning chemicals. The dilution systems are placed in strategic and secured locations at each school. The system is comprised of multiple dispensing options which allow flexibility, economy and safety through accurate and consistent measurement of concentrated cleaners into ready-to-use (RTU) spray bottles, buckets, and/or cleaning equipment. Custodians do not come in direct contact with these concentrates due to the “no chemical contact caps” used on each bottle. Additionally, there are several ready-to-use products used for specific cleaning needs. See the next page of the products used and a description of each.
