Dear Waterbury Public Schools Parents and Families:
I hope this continues to find you safe and well. Thank you for your support during this very trying time.
As we continue to engage our students in Distance Learning, schools across the country continue to introduce video-conferencing platforms to maintain teachers’ connections with students and colleagues. We are pleased to share that this capability is now enabled for all WPS educators. Introducing the video conferencing capability to our Distance Learning plan is the culmination of an immense collaboration between our administrators and teachers. It will allow students to see their teachers in a virtual setting and seek assistance in completing their Google Classroom assignments.
Waterbury is using Google Meet as the only choice for video conferencing. Please be assured that the District has implemented guidelines for the use of video conferencing and the Distance Learning website is dedicated to providing appropriate training and continued support to our teachers as they implement the use of video-conferencing to serve our students.
I encourage you and your child to visit the web page and watch the video entitled “Using Google Meet” as well as reviewing the "Video Conferencing Guide for Students and Parents/Guardians.”
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or building administrator for support.
Dr. Verna D. Ruffin, Superintendent
