It STARts with the ARTS!

The Rotella Interdistrict Magnet School opened in 2000. The student body consists of students in grades pre-K through five who reside in Waterbury and its surrounding towns. Our school motto is "It STARts with the ARTS".

“ Rotella Magnet School is the most decorated magnet school in the country.” It is a great example of how a magnet school can be. A model for all  magnet schools demonstrating ‘where we’ve been to where we are now’ through true integration of a magnet theme. Rotella contributes this knowledge nationally by participating in conferences and  demonstrating how it is done.”

Our school is a member of the Magnet Schools of America. Each year a group from Rotella presents at the annual national conference. During the conference four national awards are presented yearly. In 2011 Rotella Interdistrict Magnet School became the first school in the nation that recived all four prestigious awards over the years.

In 2011 Gina Calabrese was named Principal of the Year after winning this title in Connecticut's Region 1.
