386 Cans Collected

Students in Mrs. Weeds' first grade class in Carrington School have been collecting cans for three weeks as part of a food drive contest created by Alderman George Noujaim and ShopRite. The class that collects the most cans wins a pizza party, but Mrs. Weeds' students collected the cans because they knew it was a good thing to do. "Most of my students do not even like pizza believe it or not. They were doing it simply for the fact that it was to help out the people in our city that need it the most," Mrs. Weeds explained. The items will be donated to the Waterbury food pantries.

GoIT Application Deadline Extended to June 20, 2019

Attention Students and Parents of Students in rising 6th-10th Graders (this past year's 5th-9th graders)!

Waterbury Public Schools is running an exciting enrichment program this summer called GoIT. GoIT was piloted in the early Winter and met tremendous success. The program leads students through the design process of a mobile application. The program culminates with a 'Shark Tank' style competition where students present their designs to a panel of distinguished judges. We were blown away with the incredible presentations in the winter and are so excited to see what students will design this time. This exciting program runs from 9-3 daily (with lunch) at Waterbury Career Academy High School on July 29- August 2 and transportation is available for students and it is mandatory to attend all 5 days. Please note that this is an enrichment activity and excellent behavior is required by all attendees. Click here to find an application for your students. (Please note that this application still contains the original deadline date of June 10). Applications must be printed clearly and can be faxed to Kari Nizzardo at 203-578-3929 or scanned and emailed to  The deadline for the application has been extended to Thursday, June 20th.
