Welcome to the West Side Middle School Music page!
The music department staff at West Side is dedicated to bringing your children an education in music that hopefully will be a life-long experience. Whether your child is involved in a performing group, or attends Music Appreciation classes, he or she will experience our commitment to excellence in music education.
Mr. Wilkas is the Band Director at West Side Middle School. Our proud band members will participate in this year’s concerts and parades. Mr. Wilkas also teaches 6th grade preparatory band classes, where your children have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument. Those students have the chance to advance their instrumental skills to eventually become part of the concert and marching band. In addition, Mr. Wilkas teaches Music Appreciation classes to students in the 7th and 8th grades.
Mrs. Hagan is West Side's Chorus teacher, with a choral membership of approximately 140 performing students. Chorus members perform in two annual concerts as well as numerous community events, including Waterbury's Gathering Parade held in May of each year. Mrs. Hagan also instructs 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Music Appreciation and General Chorus classes. Mrs. Hagan's class is located in the Music Suite.
