Waterbury Public Schools Safety and Security Task Force

The Waterbury Public Schools Board of Education has called together a Task Force for the purpose of addressing and making recommendations regarding safety and security of students and staff. School safety is defined as schools and school-related activities where students and staff are safe from violence, bullying, harassment, and substance use. Safe schools promote the protection from violence, exposure to weapons and threats, theft, bullying, and the sale of or use of illegal substances on school grounds.

A Safety and Security Task Force is a volunteer group of committed experts to include representatives from the Board of Education, WPS Staff, Students, Parents, Board of Alderman, Mayor's Office, Waterbury Police Department, SAW, WTA, Central Office leaders, Superintendent and other community members as recommended by the Board of Education.

It is expected that the Task Force will present recommendations and identify resources and tools for the Board of Education to consider for the 2023-2024 school year as it relates to a safe and secure environment for our students and staff.
