Naugatuck Valley STEM Inclusive Opportunity Network (NViSION)
|
- Students must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 with noted accomplishments in STEM courses
- Students must be a US citizen, permanent resident, national, or refugee
|
- Students must have demonstrated financial need, including Pell Grant eligibility, as determined per CT State Naugatuck Valley’s Office of Financial Aid.
- Potential NViSION Scholars must commit to enrolling full-time at CT State Naugatuck Valley in a supported Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics degree program until completion of the degree and/or transfer to a 4-year college or university.

- Must be of Hispanic/Latino Heritage
- Must be resident of City of Waterbury
- Must be a High School Senior graduating from a Waterbury Public, or Private School
- Must be accepted and enrolled in a two-or four-year College or University or Vocational / Technical School for the 2023-2024 academic school year
- Must submit completed application by the stated deadline
- Must be able to attend the Coqui Scholarships Banquet and Awards Dinner.
- A history of Community Involvement is not required but it is highly desired.

- Applications must include an official and sealed copy of High School Transcripts. Transcripts can be requested from your school Counselor of Admissions Office. Transcripts must be original prints and received in an official sealed envelope
- Application must include an essay on the following topic- "Which person has been most influential in your life and explain why". The Essay should be no more than 2,000 words. The Essay must include career goals as well as personal goals
- Applications must include an official Letter of Acceptance from the College/University or Vocational School the student will be attending
- Applications must include two (2) letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation should be from teachers, counselors, or previous employers. Letters CAN NOT be from family members or personal friends.

- The applicant must be a resident of the City of Waterbury for a minimum of five years. The Scholarship Selection Committee may require proof of legal residency and will reject applicants who cannot provide such proof.
- The applicant must possess financial need.
- The applicants must plan to attend a four-year degree-granting institution or vocational school. In addition, students presently enrolled in a four-year degree-granting program are eligible if they are planning to continue their undergraduate studies.
- The applicant must have demonstrated aptitude or achievement; such things as academic record and extracurricular activities such as sports are important.
- The applicant should have demonstrated outstanding citizenship such as having been active in community affairs.

- An official transcript of the applicant’s secondary school record, complete to the last full marking period. This record must be emailed to jean.m.harrison@bofa.com prior to April 15.
- A letter of recommendation from a school counselor or a teacher must be emailed directly to jean.m.harrison@bofa.com. The letter of recommendation should cover character, attitude, academic standing, extracurricular activities, including sports, and any significant reasons why this applicant should be considered.
- A letter from the applicant outlining his or her reasons for applying for this scholarship must accompany the application and should include specific examples of contributions to the community and citizenship as well as address character, attitude, academic standing, extracurricular activities, including sports, and any significant reasons why you should be considered. Please limit your responses to one page.
