Learn or practice playing chess at the Mattatuck Museum. Visitors can join instructor Mark Galvin for a private or semi-private chess lesson. These FREE lessons are open to anyone, but advance booking is required. Teen Time
Every Wednesday | 2:30-4 PM Hang out with your friends, try a relaxing craft, get creative with graphic design, or chill on a beanbag! All teens aged 13-18 are welcome, with supplies and snacks provided. To pre-register please call (203) 753-0381, extension 130 Cost: $5 Per Person, Waterbury students and holders of a Kids Adventure Pass get in FREE. Support provided by United Way of Greater Waterbury and Elisha Leavenworth Foundation.
Storytelling Through Movement Workshop, City Youth Theater/City Stage Company
Tuesdays | 5:30 – 6:30 PM - A six-week program designed for students in grades 6-12. This workshop explores the art of storytelling without words, helping participants unlock their creative potential. Register Here

Monday - Tuesday, February 17-18 | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Hop in the time machine for this two-day experience exploring family and cultural heritage. Participants will celebrate both the women of yesterday and how each girl is making their own HERstory today—including putting together their own time capsule! Grades K-8. History Mystery Monday, February 17 Creative HERstory Tuesday, February 18 From 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Early drop off 8:00 to 9:30 Late pick up 3:30 to 5:00 PM. Drop off your child for a full day of exploration! Children will immerse themselves in the Museum’s galleries while learning about history and developing their artistic skills using unique materials and techniques. This popular program often sells out, so pre-registration is required. Cost per day: $10 for Waterbury students. Support provided by American Savings Foundation, United Way of Greater Waterbury, and the Elisha Leavenworth Foundation.

Students will have the opportunity to showcase their style, gain runway experience, and be part of a professionally produced fashion show. The event is beginner-friendly and welcomes all individuals in a supportive and inclusive environment. Purple Up for Military Kids!, Mattatuck Museum

This April, the Mattatuck Museum proudly joins the nationwide celebration of Military Kids Month by participating in “Purple Up! For Kids.” On Saturday, April 26, the Museum will offer a special Purple Up! Military Kids Storytime and Kids Art Workshop activity at 11 AM where children will hear a story about resilience and create a picture frame, then a gallery tour at 12 PM. Military children will receive free admission to this special activity. There will be a $5 admission for other participants, which will go into the Museum’s Purple Up Fund to pay for military families’ admission throughout the year.

COD 5v5 Black Ops 6 Tournament, Brass City Gamers

Waterbury residents will have their chance to test their gaming skills in a Call of Duty Black Ops Six tournament hosted at PAL on Saturday, March 29, 12 noon. Teams of five will face off for the chance to win a team prize of $500! PAL is providing the Xboxes, controllers, and headsets for the tournament.
While the tournament is happening, younger siblings and friends of players will have the chance to test their own skills in non-competitive Super Smash Bros games, making this event family friendly.
