WATERBURY- Regan Elementary School has been named a “School of Distinction'' for the 2022-23 school year by the Connecticut State Department of Education. The school of distinction recognition is given to schools in the top 10 percent of the state for their performance and/or growth as measured by the Connecticut Next Generation Accountability System. Waterbury is a member of District Reference Group (DRG) I, which includes: Bridgeport, Hartford, New Britain, New Haven, New London, Waterbury, and Windham districts. There are approximately 170 public schools in DRG I.
The Accountability System standards rely on a broad set of 12 indicators that demonstrate how well a school is preparing its students for success in college, careers, and life. Regan Elementary School was named a “School of Distinction '' in mathematics for 2022-2023 for all students and high needs students. Regan Elementary School outperformed the state average for the overall accountability index and was the highest scoring school in the district and the second highest scoring school in the DRG.
“Regan Elementary School being named a ‘School of Distinction’ is a great honor and a reflection of the hard work and commitment of our teachers and educators, families and students,” said Superintendent Dr. Verna D. Ruffin.
“We are thrilled to have been recognized,” said Regan Elementary School Principal Angela Razza. “Our educators are always dedicated to meet the needs of our students and they work endlessly to provide a high quality educational environment.
